More than ever, the public health workforce requires the skills of professionals from diverse backgrounds who are culturally competent and knowledgeable about how to design and deliver health services to the populations they serve. Support for students in the form of scholarships and fellowships, as well as experiential opportunities and career guidance, will be needed to attract and retain the best students to Berkeley regardless of their financial means.
Endowed Fellowships/Scholarships
The goal is to add 10 Berkeley Endowed Fellowships at $500,000 each, 4 Berkeley Endowed Scholarships at $250,000 each, and 60 Endowed Funds at $50,000 each.
Goal for Endowed Fellowships/Scholarships: $9 million
Public Health Leadership & Career Development Center
Funds to develop a career center that provides undergraduate, graduate students and alumni with a wide
range of personalized services, including help with career planning, clarifying career directions, resume writing and interview preparation. Includes workshops, panels, networking events. and receptions specific to all phases of the career search, including on- and off-campus recruiting activities and job fairs.
Goal for Public Health Leadership & Career Development Center: $5 million
Community Teaching Fund
A University-Community Partnership designed to provide support for community-based leaders to teach courses.
Goal for Community Teaching Fund: $1 million
Overall Goal for Student Excellence: $15 million
